The 3-Day Observance Arc
Ekādaśī is a three-day discipline. Preparation begins on Daśamī.
Daśamī · Day of Preparation (Samyama)
Sunday, 18 December 2022
Eat a single light sattvic meal before sunset. Avoid heavy grains, lentils, or eating late at night. Take a holy bath and resolve for the fast.
Ekādaśī · Day of Fast & Vigil (Vrata)
Monday, December 19, 2022 · Begins 6:35 AM (Sunrise)
Complete fast from sunrise to sunrise (water-only, fruits, or Nirjala as per capacity). Continuous prayer, chanting, and night vigil (Jāgaraṇa).
Dvādaśī · Breaking the Fast (Pāraṇā)
Tuesday, 20 December 2022 · Pāraṇā Window: 6:35 AM – 9:26 AM
Morning bath, offer charity (dāna) to the needy or Brahmins, and break the fast strictly within the pāraṇā window before Dvādaśī ends.
Celestial Coordinates & Muhūrtas
8:00 AM – 9:25 AM
10:51 AM – 12:16 PM
11:52 AM – 12:40 PM
Bearings indicate horizon degrees. Rāhu and Yamagaṇḍa are avoided for new auspicious beginnings; Abhijit is the midday victory window.
